I would prefer to think about Thanksgiving right now, even though every retail store is thinking about Christmas. I was at the library this week and I found a Nate the Great book called Nate the Great Talks Turkey
. The book does not take place around the time Thanksgiving, but it is about a missing turkey that Nate the Great, his friends, Sludge (his dog), and Olivia Sharp try to find. Olivia Sharp is Nate the Great's cousin that now has her own series of books. They might be well received by the young girl readers out there.

Each student was able to read a different book since there are many Nate the Great titles available. I presented a book packet that had activities and graphic organizers for them to complete during and after their reading of a Nate the Great book. Click here to download a copy of the packet. I have recently been drawn back to Nate the Great stories (way too focused on PBs this year!), firstly because I am a big fan of Marc Simont, but I am really enjoying the writing, the characters, and a pancake here and there too! Happy Birthday Marjorie!
