Last week, Happy Birthday Author participated in the Share a Story, Shape a Future "Writing About Reading" Event. I was chosen as a finalist along with 4 other awesome blogs (Tif Talks Books, Jen Robinson's Book Page, Reading Countess, YS Princess). Over the weekend, there was an online vote to decide the winners. Happy Birthday Author and Reading Countess, a wonderfully talented blogger of middle-grade to young adult literature, tallied the most votes. As a result, 50 multicultural books will be donated to Cuyahoga Falls Library and Morton Ranch Elementary. The books are being provided by Reading is Fundamental, the nation's largest children's literacy organization.
I nominated the Cuyahoga Falls Library because of its support of my family over the past 4 years. We attend weekly story-times that are well-designed, educational, and entertaining for my children. We have participated in many other library events including the Summer Reading Program and Sign Language. I feel that the Cuyahoga Falls Library has made a huge impact on my children.
I am truly thankful to the whole library staff. They are generous, knowledgeable, and helpful. Their commitment to the community is absolutely unbelievable!
Happy Birthday Author would like to extend a thank you to everyone who voted for my post! I appreciate your support! Also, I must thank everyone who put together the Share a Story, Shape a Future online event. I learned so much by reading the contributions from all the writers.
