In March 2010, Happy Birthday Author participated in the Share a Story, Shape a Future "Writing About Reading" Event. I was chosen as a finalist and selected as a winner through an online vote for the posts that I contributed during the week long event. As a result, 50 multicultural books were donated to the Cuyahoga Falls Library. The books were provided by Reading is Fundamental, the nation's largest children's literacy organization.
I wanted to inform all my voters and supporters that the Cuyahoga Falls Library has received their books. The books are now in circulation and I was so excited to see that the library went the extra effort to recognize Happy Birthday Author with bookplates.
About a year ago, I noticed bookplates in honor of another foundation who donated books to the Cuyahoga Falls Library. I said to my wife, "It would be awesome to come into some money and be able to donate books to the library." I can't believe that I was able to accomplish this through writing this blog. I am truly thankful to all my readers and supporters.
